Top Ten Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read But Me

1.  The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - I can already see some of you giving me that look because I've never read this one. I own it, but I haven't quite gotten past 20 pages in...

2.  The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - I meant to get this one so many times, but it was never in at my library whenever I looked. I always feel so weird for not having read it when so many other people have.

3.  The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan - It looks like such fun, and it's got mythology (I love mythology), but I still haven't ever picked up a copy.

4.  Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles - It's pretty much a given that someone will recommend this to me at least once a month. Honestly, it sounds utterly cliché to me, but I guess it's still pretty popular?

5.  Bloodlines by Richelle Mead - Okay, so maybe everyone hasn't read this yet, but it sure feels like it. I keep seeing so many mixed reviews, they're making me nervous to buy a copy of the book!

6.  The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger  - The year I would have read this back in high school was also the year I took an Honors version of English, so I ended up reading other books for that class. *hides under rock*

7.  Clockwork Angel / CoG / CoFA by Cassandra Clare - Okay, this is more than one book, but let's just pretend that they're all only one. Usually, I'm pretty good with sequels and series. But for some reason, I haven't finished the Mortal instruments books, let alone gotten past pg. 50 in Clare's newest series....Maybe I just need to do a full reread of every book, and then I'll be inspired to finally catch up?

8.  Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - I vaguely remember trying to read this one, but then I just watched the Keira Knightly movie instead ;)

9.  Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly - Raving reviews are everywhere for this book. Everywhere. Why haven't I read this one???

10.  The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - This book isn't even released yet and I already feel like everyone else has read it. And loved it. And loved some dude named Noah. So much so, I keep reading fangirly raves about him. Apparently, this book (and Noah) cannot be missed....

  1. I'm with you on 2-5! Especially #2--The Perks of Being a Wallflower is being made into a movie, right? I seriously need to jump on that bandwagon. :P

  2. I have not read most of those but it's ok, I think!

I have listed authors in my post!

Here is my Top Ten post!

  3. You MUST read Pride and Prejudice. It's sooo good. I am reading Bloodlines now and it's hard to get into to. :( I miss Rose. Great list!

  4. I haven't read 1 or 10, and I'm reading Bloodlines now. But you must read Pride and Prejudice! Or watch the BBC version with Colin Firth, because it is 99% word for word the book. And has Colin Firth. :)

  5. Hi, Lea! You should watch the Pride and Prejudice miniseries with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth and then try reading the book again. The Keira version cut out so much and then added in nonsense to make it seem more exciting, like Eliza running around barefoot in a pigsty and her mother running around and carriages in the middle of the night, and the couple boinking nekkid out on the terrace where the servants might see.

My "never read"? War and Peace. Every other guy seemed to be named Alexander and I couldn't keep track.

  6. Definitely giving you the look for The Book Thief ;) and for The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I know what you mean with The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer though, it does seem like everyone has read and loved it already. Fun list. Happy Reading!

  7. The Percy Jackson series is pretty fun to read, even if I'm already (technically) an adult.

Revolution, Perks and The Book Thief are all on my list as well!

  8. You actually mentioned some that I forgot, like Perks (which is being made into a movie!) that I haven't read yet! Great list!

  9. The Book Thief, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Percy Jackson, Catcher in the Rye, and Pride and Prejudice are all fantastic!!

I know what you mean about The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. I have to read that!!!

  10. Thanks for stopping by! I want Mara Dyer so badly that it hurts! My best friend doesn't really read but he is in LOVE with the Percy Jackson series!

  11. You're so right about Mara -- I mean, is there even anyone left to buy the darned thing (except for us, of course)?

  12. Ditto for most of these! Some of these have been on my tbr forever! It's kind of ridiculous. Oh, and I kind of hated Noah actually. He was way too much of an arrogant prick for my tastes. But I realize I'm definitely in the minority about him.

  15. You are definitely not alone on this list! I really need to read Perfect Chemistry as well as Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I've read The Lightning Thief and the rest of the series. I really loved it. I hope you read the books soon!

    Great list!

  16. I'm glad I am not the only one who hasn't read Catcher in the Rye :)

I haven't read The Perks of Being a Wallflower yet either but with the movie coming out next year I better pick it up or I won't get the chance. I also haven't read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and I'm not sure I will.

I do hope you will read Pride and Prejudice some day. I think The Book Thief is excellent too. I only read The Lightning Thief when the movie was coming out but I ended up loving the book and the movie was just okay. Bloodlines and the Cassandra Clare books were also good. I was nervous about Bloodlines but I'm glad I went ahead and got it. It is different but still good.
