What are your favorite and least favorite 
book to film adaptations, and why?

 

Favorites 

Harry Potter - The movies aren't exactly like the books, but they are filled with the same charm that the books have. Plus, there are some truly talented actors in the supporting roles.

 
Lord of the Rings - It's been a long time since I've read the books, so I can't say for sure if the movies are completely faithful. Regardless, the movies are epic and deserved the awards they won.

Stuck-in-the-Middle 

Water for Elephants - Great book, pretty good movie, but with some weak moments. The scenery was great, but there were certain actors that didn't quite pull of their characters.

Hated It 

Ella Enchanted - This book is so, so good. The movie, however, made it look like a joke. It took a charming story, changed and altered it, and essentially ruined it. Such a disappointment.

Top Ten Favorite YA Characters

Top Ten All Time Favorite Characters In Books

 

1.  Fred and George Weasley (Harry Potter) - They are so awesome, it's almost not fair that they don't exist. I would definitely be best friends with these two.

2.  Karou + Brimstone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) - Both amazing and complex characters!

3.  Wes Baker (The Truth About Forever) - *swoons* (enough said)

4.  Susannah "Suze" Simon (Mediator) - Tough, sarcastic, relatable, and she can see (and beat up) ghosts. 

5.  Sirius Black (Harry Potter) - Without a doubt, my favorite character in the HP world. 

6.  Iko (Cinder) - Can I just say that I love and adore this little android? 

7.  Orion (Across the Universe) - Kind of a Spoiler: A villain, yes, but I still think he's very interesting as a character. I'm hoping he's in Shades of Earth more!

8.  Mara (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer) - She is seriously the most intriguing narrator I've come across lately. Sarcastic, possibly crazy, and continuously surprising.  

9.  Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) - This post is getting to be very Harry Potterish, but how can I not include this kooky gal? She's pure awesome with her odd accessories and even odder statements. 

10.  Rose & Dimitri (Vampire Academy series) - Yeah, yeah, I'm cheating again by choosing a pair. But, Rose + Dimitri = epic.

All right, so who saw Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince?

I went last night, and can I say it was amazing?

Ohhhh yeah. Amazing.

Not only was the acting exceptional (Emma Watson was great in showing that Hermione definitely had a thing for Ron, and what about Tom Felton? Great? Yes!), the story was shown beautifully. The cave was so hauntingly beautiful, I was surprised.

Who loved Lavender? I think every time that she came on screen, I laughed. Her facials are priceless. Cormac was equally entertaining, especially when Slughorn hosts his first dinner party. The "look" he gives Hermione had the entire theater laughing.

This book was definitely cheerful and full of romance, but it was also dark. The movie fit in all of these things so well. Harry's romance with Ginny, the Ron-Lavender-Hermione thing, and then Draco's task all wove together perfectly.

The acting was by far the best in this movie, and I was pleasantly surprised by it.

The ending, however, upset me. I wanted the fight scene, I wanted Fleur and Bill, I wanted the funeral.

Well, there's always next movie I suppose...
