After a lot thinking (and scrolling through my Goodreads account), these are the top ten books I've read so far in 2013 (not all were published in 2013, just FYI):
1. SIEGE AND STORM by Leigh Bardugo (my review)
2. OUT OF THE EASY by Ruta Sepetys (my review)
3. SCARLET by Marissa Meyer (my review)
4. SHADES OF EARTH by Beth Revis
5. A GAME OF THRONES George RR. Martin
6. THE MOON AND MORE by Sarah Dessen
7. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green
8. THE LUCKY ONE by Nicholas Sparks
9. UNBREAK MY HEART by Melissa Walker
10. EVERNEATH by Brodi Ashton
I think SIEGE AND STORM, SCARLET, TFIOS, and OUT OF THE EASY are my favorites of 2013 - so far, anyway! ;)
What's in your top ten?
I read both Everneath and Everbound this year, and I very much preferred the sequel. I loved The Fault In Our Stars and Siege and Storm! Lovely list.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing that EVERBOUND is better, so I'm excited to read it!
DeleteLOVE TFIOS and S&S!! :D
I seriously need to read Game of Thrones and The Fault in Our Stars! A few others are on my to-read/wish lists. Including Out of the Easy, which I've seen in several peoples' Top 10 so far. :D

GAME OF THRONES and TFIOS are both fantastic - I was surprised by how much I loved both. OUT OF THE EASY is incredible too, there are so many fabulous characters in that novel!
DeleteGreat top ten! loved siege and storm too:)

Thanks! Glad you're a S&S fan too :D
DeleteI'll be dropping by your TTT soon - thanks for stopping by mine!
Lots of great books on your list! I loved A Game of Thrones and The Fault in Our Stars too but I read them last year so they didn't make my list. I also really liked Scarlet and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I want to read Out of the Easy too. I loved Between Shades of Gray.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit late to the game with AGoT and TFIOS, but better late than never!
DeleteYou should check out OUT OF THE EASY - it's really good! I was a bit skeptical during the first fifty pages, because I loved BSoG so much, but it ended up being a fantastic story with great characters. Hope you get a chance to read it soon :)
I really want to read Out of the Easy, too. John Green basically makes our list every time, but now that we are all caught up with his books, I don't know what we will do :-)
ReplyDeleteOUT OF THE EASY is fantastic, you should check it out!
DeleteI'm so behind on John Green's books - I've only read TFIOS, LOOKING FOR ALASKA, and WILL GRAYSON WILL GRAYSON, so I still have a few to go!
SEIGE AND STORM!! WOOT! And I just finished Dance With Dragons (GoT #5) -- so fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLOVE S&S so much! It's so good, isn't it? I'm a bit tempted to reread it soon.
DeleteOooh, I keep hearing the GoT books only get better and better! I'm still on book two, but I'm hoping to catch up by the end of the summer!
I'm so glad to see TFIOS on your list, as well, Lea! Great minds must seriously think alike. I loved SEIGE AND STORM, as well, and I really, really want to read OUT OF EASY after all the wonderful reviews. Fantastic list this week, girl! :)
ReplyDelete*high five* TFIOS and S&S are fabulous! Glad you're a fan of both, too!
DeleteYou should definitely try to read OUT OF THE EASY - it's very good and filled with excellent characters :)
I've seen the Fault in Our Stars on so many lists today and I haven't even read it! Ugh. I seriously need to get my hands on a copy like now! I really liked Everneath even though it totally made me cry haha. The Moon and More looks like a really amazing book, and I wouldn't expect anything less from Sarah Dessen. Great list!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
TFIOS is fantastic, you should check it out ASAP!!!
DeleteThe Moon and More made my list, too. I really enjoyed Out of the Easy as well. I still need to read Cinder. I've heard great things about that series. Great list!
ReplyDeleteNatflix&Books' TTT
Yay for a fellow Dessen fan!
DeleteCINDER and SCARLET are both great (although I loved the sequel so much more than CINDER)! You should check them both out, especially if you're a fan of fairy tale retellings :)
Scarlet and The Fault in Our Stars were both on my list, too. Siege and Storm is everywhere, so I am definitely going to have to start that series. Great list! My TTT.
ReplyDeleteVyki @ On The Shelf
SCARLET and TFIOS are so awesome, right?
DeleteSHADOW AND BONE plus SIEGE AND STORM are both fantastic. You should definitely try to read them!
I really had a hard time finishing Unbreak My Heart. It was fairly cheesy I thought
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
Oh, that's too bad! I felt that UMH was a bit cliche at times, but it never felt cheesy to me. Crazy how differently two people can read the same book! :)
DeleteI seriously need to pick up Siege and Storm soon, seriously! I loved Shadow and Bone, but just haven't had the chance to buy myself a copy of that one yet. I thought Scarlet was even better than Cinder, actually! I surprisingly enjoyed Out of the Easy, Ruta's writing is gorgeous. <3 <3 And gah, I have no words for TFiOS. I've had Shades of Earth sitting on my shelf ever since it came out, yet I haven't read it yet!! Bad reader, is bad, I know. ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely list, Lea! <33
-Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life
YOU DO! SIEGE & STORM is amazing! Agreed about SCARLET - I liked CINDER, but SCARLET was incredible.
Delete"And gah, I have no words for TFiOS." - seriously. I'm still trying to write a review for that book, but all I can manage is nonsensical fangirl ramblings ;)
Oh my gosh, you need to read SHADES OF EARTH soon! There are so many secrets revealed in that book, I'm still in shock.
Thanks for stopping by!
Great list doll!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Juju! :)
DeleteExcellent list. The Fault in Our Stars and Shades of Earth are the only ones I've read on your list! I think that since they made it on my too I need to read some of these others. Maybe I'll grab Out of the Easy next!
ReplyDeleteOUT OF THE EASY is fantastic!! You should absolutely check that one out :)
DeleteLOVED GoT - best writer I've ever read.
ReplyDeleteReading The Moon and More right now and loving it!
Several on your list I still need to read :)
George RR Martin is definitely a talented writer - I didn't think I'd like GoT, but his writing quickly won me over :)
DeleteYay! Glad you're loving TM&M!
I should have put Scarlet on my list :) I loved it! And I have Everneath sitting on my shelf waiting to be read! Awesome list and thanks for stopping by My TTT!
ReplyDeleteJanina
EVERNEATH is really good - a nice twist on the Persephone myth.
DeleteThank you for stopping by as well, Janina! :)
Oh, UNBREAK MY HEART was definitely a highlight in the contemporary category for me last year! Lovely book. And I really do need to read SCARLET and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS like, now. Thanks for sharing your list!
ReplyDeleteYou MUST read SCARLET and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS! They are amazing :D
DeleteScarlet made it to my list as well! Great list!
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT
Awesome! Love that book :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Good list, I love Game of Thrones and The Fault in our Stars as well.
ReplyDeleteTwo great books, right? I was surprised by how much I loved them both.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Reading everyones lists is depressing me. I'm so far behind in my reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you! :)
DeleteI really enjoyed Everneath! It was really great :D. And the second one is so much better! I need the last to release now!! I need to know what happens.

Glad to hear that, I'm excited to start the sequel!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
LOVE Siege and Storm, and TFiOS! Scarlet was good too, but I haven't read most of the others. Though I'll be reading my first Sarah Dessen book next week! So excited ;D
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT :)
"LOVE Siege and Storm, and TFiOS!" - *high five*
DeleteOoh, what Dessen book are you reading? THE TRUTH ABOUT FOREVER, THIS LULLABY and JUST LISTEN are three of her best stories :)
I can't wait to read The Moon and More! I've heard it's different from the typical Sarah Dessen book. and yes, Siege and Storm was epic!
ReplyDeleteIt's different, that's for sure. I didn't like the romance aspect, but I enjoyed the MC and her friends! Hope you enjoy the story when you get a chance to read it!
DeleteOooh, I don't know my top ten, but I definitely agree with TFIOS, The Moon and More, and Unbreak my Heart! Loved all three! (Haven't read the others; clearly I need to catch up!)
ReplyDeleteTFIOS, TM&M and UMH really are fantastic! Glad you loved them :)
DeleteThanks for dropping by, Lauren!
Sigh. <3 So many awesome books :) I read Scarlet and The Fault in Our Stars last year, so they don't count for 2013 for me :p but ohh. Siege and Storm. <3 Thank you for sharing sweetie :)
ReplyDeleteSIEGE AND STORM!! I'm still thinking about that book. I'm so tempted to start rereading it soon :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Carina!
I've only read Shades of Earth from your list. But I'm almost done with Siege and Storm! And yeah, I can tell it's going to be a part of my top ten favourites of the entire year of 2013!! I really hope I can find time for Scarlet and TFioS soon because of course I've been dying to read them ever since reading yours and everyone else's RAVE reviews for them! I recall your review for Out of the Easy, as well, and it sounded quite good even if it's not my usual kind of read.
ReplyDeleteLove SIEGE AND STORM - glad you're enjoying it so far :D
DeleteSCARLET and TFIOS both rock! As does OUT OF THE EASY, you definitely need to give all three a try :)
You have so many on your list that I still need to read! Scarlet, Siege and Storm, The Fault in Our Stars. I need to get on the ball and read faster!
ReplyDeleteThey are all fantastic, too! If you read them, I hope you enjoy them :)
