After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best. Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.
Reading this one now, and it's great! I'm glad to that the model looks like how I imagine Celaena. The eerie castle backdrop is perfect!

Kate Lowry thought she’d retired her pearls for good. But that was before Taylor Wright fails to show up for school Monday after the biggest party of the year.
Kate realizes soon enough that the party and Taylor's disappearance are connected--only not in the way everyone thinks. And as if it’s not hard enough to find a missing girl, Kate is forced to team up with the one person she has worked so hard to avoid--not to mention the one person with the potential to come between her and Liam.
As usual, Kate has her hands full searching for the truth amidst many layers of lies.
After all, things are never what they seem at Pemberly Brown.
The Liar Society was so much fun, I can't wait to see what happens next (and see if Kate's rocking blue hair like in the cover)!
Throne of Glass was my pick too! Definitely can't wait to try it! :)

ReplyDeleteYou're the second blog today to mention Throne of Glass. I've added it to my TBR list. I think it sounds a little like Maria V. Snyder's Poison Study series?
