Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday
Release: October 2011
Hartley Grace Featherstone is having a very bad day. First she finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with the president of the Herbert Hoover High School Chastity Club. Then he's pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And if that weren't enough, now he's depending on Hartley to clear his name. Seriously? Not cool. But as much as Hartley wouldn't mind seeing him squirm, she knows he's innocent, and she's the only one who can help him. Along with her best friend, Sam, and the school's resident Bad Boy, Chase, Hartley starts investigating on her own. But as the dead bodies begin to pile up, the mystery deepens, the suspects multiply, and Hartley begins to fear that she may be the killer's next victim.
YA murder mystery? YAY! And as a side note, those intense eyes are kind of freaking me out ;)
Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer
Release: July 2011
This thrilling sequel to the much-talked-about Nightshade begins just where it ended.Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she's certain her days are numbered.
But then the Searchers make her an offer, one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack and the man she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.
Despite my immediate dislike of this cover (and the new paperback - both of which make me think "Adult Urban Fantasy"), I'm still really looking forward to this book.
Besides, it's not the cover that matters - it's the wonderful story that the author creates beneath the cover! I loved Nightshade so much, and wish Wolfsbane was out now! I need to know what happens next!!
What are you waiting on this week?
Can't wait for Wolfsbane! And that YA murder mystery looks intense and awesome!

ReplyDeleteNina xxx
I love the cover for deadly cool. Urgh I cannot stand the new Wolfsbane cover!!
ReplyDeleteDeadly Cool looks awesome! I've never heard of it either. It's going on my Wishlist. I like murder mysteries! I definitely do not like the new cover for Wolfsbane. Why did they change the cover? The other one was pretty. I haven't read this series yet, but I'm looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a young adult murder mystery too. And I'm totally with you on the new Nightshade/Wolfsbane covers.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine (my first WoW!)...
One A Day YA
Deadly Cool sounds intense! (those eyes are freaking me out though....the girl's face looks doll-ish)
ReplyDeleteAnd Wolfsbane... I'm not jumping with joy over the paperbacks but I don't think they're horrid. They just don't stand out (which I think is a big reason for the outrage, aside from disrupting the original covers. And I'm sorry but that pose that Calla has? NO NO NO. It's slightly suggestive and Calla is sooo not the type to do that!).
Wow, Deadly Cool has such a nice cover! The summary sounds intriguing too :P
ReplyDeleteAs for Wolfsbane, the cover doesn't quite catch my attention. I agree with you with it looking like Adult Urban Fantasy. Not my kind of thing. But I've yet to read Nightshade! So, i'll be checking it out! :D
I'm really excited for Deadly cool. It sounds so interesting and I love the cover! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Nightshade yet, but I wil soon. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these look awesome! I'm especially excited for Wolfsbane :)
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read Nightshade. I need to get on the ball. Thanks for posting about Wolfsbane. It was a great reminder! I'm putting Deadly Cool in my TBR list now!
ReplyDeleteBoth books look really good! I really like the cover for Deadly Cool :)
