Waiting on Wednesday (157): SAINT ANYTHING

WOW is hosted by Breaking the Spine

SAINT ANYTHING by Sarah Dessen
May 5th 2015 from Viking Juvenile

Peyton, Sydney's charismatic older brother, has always been the star of the family, receiving the lion's share of their parents' attention and—lately—concern. When Peyton's increasingly reckless behavior culminates in an accident, a drunk driving conviction, and a jail sentence, Sydney is cast adrift, searching for her place in the family and the world. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the only one concerned about the victim of the accident?

Enter the Chathams, a warm, chaotic family who run a pizza parlor, play bluegrass on weekends, and pitch in to care for their mother, who has multiple sclerosis. Here Sydney experiences unquestioning acceptance. And here she meets Mac, gentle, watchful, and protective, who makes Sydney feel seen, really seen, for the first time.

The uber-popular Sarah Dessen explores her signature themes of family, self-discovery, and change in her twelfth novel, sure to delight her legions of fans.

I've been a Dessen fan since I was a teenager, so I think it's safe to say I'm incredibly excited for this novel! It sounds a bit different from her other books, and I'm sure it will be wonderful. Is it May yet? *glares at calendar*

What are you waiting on?

  2. Yes! I am a huge fan of Dessen as well, so I can't wait for this book's release. I agree that it sounds different than her usual books, but I might be a good change. I love the darker cover, too. Great pick, Lea!

  4. I haven't read anything from Sarah Dessen, which is a shame because she's so popular! This one doesn't really seem like it's for me but I really do like the feel good theme that the family emits. A strong family household is something I find missing in books a lot, so it's nice to see a change!
