Waiting on Wednesday (156): ROYAL WEDDING

WOW is hosted by Breaking the Spine

Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot
The Princess Diaries #11
June 2nd 2015 from William Morrow & Company

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding--but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia's gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn't need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother's leaked "fake" wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia's father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone--especially herself--that she's not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

I basically grew up reading a handful of authors, and Meg Cabot was one of the few I would read all the time. The Princess Diaries was probably the book that introduced me to YA lit. So, I'm incredibly excited that Cabot's writing another Princess Diaries novel! Mia as an adult! This should be interesting :)

What are you waiting on?

  1. I never finished the Princess Diaries series - I think I read up to 8 and felt like I had grown out of them. I am tempted to read this for nostalgia though. I really love the Allie Finkle series for younger readers by Meg Cabot, I used to read them to my sister. Cabot is a superb writer.

    1. I almost gave up around then, but stuck with it to finish (and remember being happy with Mia's development as a character). It's going to be exciting to see how Mia's changed in this adult PD novel!

Agreed! Cabot is a fabulous writer :)

    1. She recently decided to write an adult PD book - also another (adult) Mediator book, too!

You should check out the PD series. It starts out pretty young, but Mia ages realistically throughout the series :)

  6. Yay! Great pick sweetie :D I hope you will end up loving this book. <3 The cover is gorgeous. But ohh. I just read the summary. SO DIFFERENT from the second Princess D movie. Which I adored, lol. I haven't read any of the books, just watched the movies with Anne H :) Anyway. Thank you for sharing about this book. <3

    1. Isn't the cover adorable? Different from the other books but still similar enough...Oh my gosh, yes! The second movie went very different from the novels (I think Mia even mentioned it in one of the later books).

The movies are delightful, but slightly different from the novels! The novels are great, in a different way :)

  10. Sooo I've never read any Meg Cabot if you can believe it! I do wish I had been exposed to The Princess Diaries growing up (besides just in the movie form) because I know I would have loved the heck out of it! Would like to start the series one day, as well as most of Meg's other series.
