Waiting on Wednesday (82) (times two!)

WOW is hosted by Breaking the Spine

April 16th, 2013
There are no men in Claysoot. There are boys—but every one of them vanishes at midnight on his eighteenth birthday. The ground shakes, the wind howls, a blinding light descends...and he’s gone.

They call it the Heist.

Gray Weathersby’s eighteenth birthday is mere months away, and he’s prepared to meet his fate–until he finds a strange note from his mother and starts to question everything he’s been raised to accept: the Council leaders and their obvious secrets. The Heist itself. And what lies beyond the Wall that surrounds Claysoot–a structure that no one can cross and survive.

Climbing the Wall is suicide, but what comes after the Heist could be worse. Should he sit back and wait to be taken–or risk everything on the hope of the other side?
WANT. It sounds so, so good. That cover is also very awesome. I love the raised "K" and the mirrored surface...and the creepy tree.

February 2013
Known amongst locals as the daughter of a brothel prostitute, Josie wants more out of life than The Big Easy has to offer. She devises a plan get out, but a mysterious death in the Quarter leaves Josie tangled in an investigation that will challenge her allegiance to her mother, her conscience, and Willie Woodley, the brusque madam on Conti Street. Caught between the dream of an elite college and a clandestine underworld, New Orleans lures Josie in her quest for truth, dangling temptation at every turn, and escalating to the ultimate test.
I'm a fan of Between Shades of Gray, so I am extremely excited for another story by Ruta Sepetys. It's bound to be great!

What are you waiting on this week?

Note: I know the blog has been a bit dead, but posts on YA Book Queen should normalize by Monday -- many of my reviews + posts vanished from my "Draft" section on Blogger, so I'm rewriting them....luckily, some of my reviews are saved in other places, so fortunately, it's going a lot faster than I thought it would.

  2. I like the sound of Taken. I hadn't heard of it before.

That's too bad about your posts vanishing. I should probably have copies of my drafts elsewhere too.

  3. Out of the Easy sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing.

My condolences on your lost posts. It's enough to make you want to pound your head against the wall, isn't it?

  4. In my blogger buzz they say they are retiring the "draft" section of blogger which means no more draft section of blogger. I never paid attention it it much since I write all my reviews and such down before posting on a word document

Taken looks amazing going on the maybe shelf oh yes

  5. LOVE the covers for both of these books - and with Sepetys, you're guaranteed beautifully written prose. Taken sounds like it's full of action and 'END OF THE WORLD!' peril. Great picks, both.

If you'd like, you can check out my WoW here.

  6. I saw the cover for The Taken yesterday and squeed a bit. Love the colors and how it's different than most but still very eye-catching!

  8. Love the cover for Taken, how the colors change.

Then I just found out that Sepetys has another book coming out from another WOW post and that makes me so happy since I loved Between Shades of Gray. I'm glad she has what sounds like a completely different change of pace story coming.

  14. I read the cover reveal post for Taken, and it was really neat to see the interview the author had with the person that designed the cover! (If I remembered the link, I would have posted it here, but sadly, I don't.) It's an insanely gorgeous cover! And I'm also a huge fan of Between Shades of Gray, and looking forward to Sepetys's next book!!

    Fantastic picks this week!
