What Waits in the Woods by Kieran Scott
March 31st, 2015 from Point
An unputdownable thriller with twists and turns the reader won't see coming, from YA talent Kieran Scott.
It's a beautiful, sunny day. Callie Velasquez holds hands with her boyfriend Jeremy as they follow Callie's new BFFs Penelope and Lissa up the trail. The four friends are embarking on a camping trip -- a trip that immediately goes awry. They lose their way on the trail, and encounter a charismatic stranger with questionable motives. And when Callie stumbles upon a dead body, it becomes clear that the danger that lies in the woods is deadlier than she could have ever imagined. Tensions mount and friendships are tested as these teenagers try to survive the most sinister of circumstances.
I practically grew up reading Scott's Private series (written under the name Kate Brian), and those books were full of drama, murder mysteries, and shocking cliffhangers. So I'm curious to see what Scott will do with this book! Sounds like it will be an excellent thriller!
What are you waiting on?
I did not realize that Kate Brian is Kieran Scott. I like the sound of this book. The premise reminds me of the teen suspense novels (Lois Duncan, Richie Tankersley Cusick, Christopher Pike) I used to read in my own teen years.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised when I first found out about KB = KS!
DeleteDefinitely sounds like it could be an exciting, suspenseful read!
I LOVED the Private series. It was one of my guilty pleasures :)
Delete@Jessica: Me too! I loved all the drama / secrets / mysteries. Let's hope WWITW is even better!
DeleteI loved mystery and suspense novels when I was a teenager and I'd love to get back into them. I will be adding this one to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteMystery + suspense = awesomely entertaining books!
DeleteThis one looks good and is new to me, hope you get to read it soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad I found something new to you!
DeleteOh really?!! I didn't know Kate Brian and Kieran Scott is one person. Wow. I'm definitely adding this to my TBR now.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I didn't find out about that until I became a book blogger and it surprised me. And it gave me more books to put on my own TBR list ;)
DeleteI love the creepiness and the suspense! it's so very rare to see a goosebump-inducing book :)
ReplyDeleteNemo @ Blame it on the Book
Agreed! I'm excited for a story like that. It's been awhile since I've read one!
DeleteI lovvvve the font on the cover, but I'm surprised I haven't heard of the book up until now! It sounds awesome though. A thriller in the woods? YES. Great pick, Lea!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the font - it's fantastic! Glad I found something new to you :D
DeleteAh so that sounds great and I also do love Kieran Scott. I also didn't know she also wrote under a different pen name:))
ReplyDeleteHer books are always fun! She apparently has a couple pen names. Seems like she's a busy writer!
DeleteOoh I haven't heard of this before! But it sounds really good. I usually like thrillers, so I'll definitely be adding this to my TBR. The cover definitely has a creepy and chilling sort of vibe as well, I like it when covers match the book! Great pick, thanks for letting us know about this one.
ReplyDeleteAgreed about the cover - eerie! Hopefully the story matches well (and it probably will, based on the authors previous work)!
DeleteI've read a couple of Kate Brian's books, so this makes me curious and I love the sound of this! Thanks for bringing it to my attention and thanks for stopping by My WoW!
ReplyDelete:)
Sounds great, right? Very excited!
DeleteThank you for stopping by, too! :D
The blurb for this book makes it sound like it wouldn't really be my thing, but... but... that cover!!! I love how sinister it looks. And the font?! So cool.
ReplyDeleteTruly a great, creepy cover! I adore the font :)
DeleteI actually haven't heard of this one at all but it looks really good so I'll be adding it to my TBR and looking out for early reviews for sure. Thanks for putting this on my radar!
ReplyDeleteGlad I found something new to you! :)
DeleteI hadn't heard of this one either until now. I never read that series by her but I did read Megan Meade's guide to the McGowan boys which I loved. That and the first book in the she's so dead series...which I also really liked...man, I need to finish that series. ANYWAY. This latest book sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteLove MMGttMB! That's probably my favorite book by KB. I need to finish the She's So / He's So series too.
DeleteGlad I found something new to you!
This sounds really good. The cover is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Here is my Waiting on Wednesday

DeleteI feel like this book will instill the reason why I don't like the woods lol Looks good though. Nice pick!
