"What is it like to be the daughter of the most beautiful woman in the world? Hermione knows...her mother is Helen of Troy, the famed beauty of Greek myth. Helen is not only beautiful but also impulsive, and when she falls in love with charming Prince Paris, she runs off with him to Troy, abandoning her distraught daughter. Determined to reclaim their enchanting queen, the Greek army sails for Troy. Hermione stows away in one of the thousand ships in the fleet and witnesses the start of the legendary Trojan War.
In the rough Greek encampment outside the walls of Troy, Hermione’s life is far from that of a pampered princess. Meanwhile, her mother basks in luxury in the royal palace inside the city. Hermione desperately wishes for the gods and goddesses to intervene and end the brutal war—and to bring her love. Will she end up with the handsome archer Orestes, or the formidable Pyrrhus, leader of a tribe of fierce warriors? And will she ever forgive her mother for bringing such chaos to her life and the lives of so many others?"
I still need to get my hands on Khoury's debut, but this book sounds fabulous too! I love the cover."On a remote island in the Pacific, Corpus scientists have taken test tube embryos and given them life. These beings--the Vitros--have knowledge and abilities most humans can only dream of. But they also have one enormous flaw.
Sophie Crue is determined to visit Skin Island and find her mother, a scientist who left Sophie behind years ago. She enlists hunky charter pilot Jim Julien to take her there. But once on the island, Sophie and Jim encounter more than they bargained for, including a charming, brilliant Vitro named Nicholas and an innocent, newly awoken one named Lux.
In a race for their lives, Sophie and Jim are about to discover what happens when science stretches too far beyond its reach."
What are you waiting on this week?
VIRTO sounds great!! Haven't seen this book before, but it sounds pretty great!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? I'm so excited for that book! Glad I managed to find a book that's new to you :)
DeleteI hadn't heard of Beauty's Daughter but I will be adding it to my TBR list. I don't know if this will be a straightforward historical fiction novel like Carolyn Meyer usually writes or if there actually will be gods and goddesses in the story. It sounds interesting either way.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how she will write it as well. It sounds like it might be more historical....But I agree, it sounds fascinating either way!
DeleteThe first one is such an interesting premise. I've never heard of this story but it sounds fantastic! Very different from other greeked themed YA's out there. Vitro looks awesome. I haven't quite finished Origin yet, I keep starting and stopping, but that cover is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAbibliophobic
BEAUTY'S DAUGHTER does seem like a different book than we usually see in YA. Let's hope both BD and VITRO will be great! :)
DeleteI haven't heard of both books, but I am going to add them to my TBR list immediately. I love mythology too, so Beauty's Daughter is a no brainer and Vitro sounds awesome. I love the premise and that cover is cool! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with cover + premise for VITRO! It seems like it's going to be a fabulous book :)
DeleteBeauty's Daughter does sound so interesting. I love mythology, so I'm excited for this one. And I want that girl's hair! Vitro sounds interesting, too. I haven't read her debut, either. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WOW
Her hair is so pretty. I want it too ;)

ReplyDeleteGlad I found two books that are new to you!
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Britt! :)
Ooooooooooo Vitros sounds exciting and like it could make an awesome movie.
ReplyDeleteBeauty's Daughter? WAY cool.
VITRO does sound like it'd make an awesome movie! Who knows, maybe it will get picked up too - YA seems to be very popular with movie studios lately. :)
DeleteThe movie rights to ORIGIN have already been sold, so maybe it will happen with VITRO too :-)
DeleteReally? That's exciting! So I guess there is hope that VITRO will get picked up for a movie too :)
DeleteBoth of these look fabulous! Excited for more by Khoury and I've never heard of Beauty's Daughter, but it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThey do both seem great, don't they? I agree, I'm a bit more excited for Khoury's novel too! :)

I really like the sound of Beauty's Daughter-I've read a lot of mythology influence books but never one about Helen's daughter.
