Waiting on Wednesday (115): PANIC

WoW is hosted by Breaking The Spine

Title: PANIC
Author: Lauren Oliver
Releases: March 4th, 2014
Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.

Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.

A LAUREN OLIVER BOOK, you guys!! I pretty much need this novel, because I usually adore Lauren Oliver's books! At least she was kind enough to read the first three chapters, but that only made me want this story even more...I wish it was March.

What are you waiting on?

  9. I'm super excited about this book!! It's going to be on my WOW one of these weeks. I feel like we have so long before the release date! How do you feel about the cover? I don't really like it :/ Aside from the girl's hair being all haphazard, she has a pleasant looking face on. Not something I would associate with the title "PANIC." She should be screaming with that crazy wind-blown hair. That would make more sense, in my opinion. Oh well. I haven't read anything by Oliver before but I've heard her other books are awesome so I'm really excited to read this one.

    1. It's going to be a long wait, that's for sure. March feels SO far away!

It's an odd cover, but I like the hair blowing in the air effect. I'm surprised that they used the same (or similar) font style as they did on DELIRIUM, PANDEMONIUM and REQUIEM, though (I feel like it might confuse some readers).

  13. I'm super excited for this one as well; Before I Fall is still one of my favorite books and though Delirium didn't quite work for me, I remain enchanted with Oliver's writing.
