THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING by Robyn Schneider
August 27th, 2013
"Golden boy Ezra Faulkner believes everyone has a tragedy waiting for them—a single encounter after which everything that really matters will happen. His particular tragedy waited until he was primed to lose it all: in one spectacular night, a reckless driver shatters Ezra’s knee, his athletic career, and his social life.
No longer a front-runner for Homecoming King, Ezra finds himself at the table of misfits, where he encounters new girl Cassidy Thorpe. Cassidy is unlike anyone Ezra’s ever met, achingly effortless, fiercely intelligent, and determined to bring Ezra along on her endless adventures.
But as Ezra dives into his new studies, new friendships, and new love, he learns that some people, like books, are easy to misread. And now he must consider: if one’s singular tragedy has already hit and everything after it has mattered quite a bit, what happens when more misfortune strikes?"
I've been curious about this one ever since Robyn Schneider posted a video of herself reading the first chapter (it used to be titled SEVERED HEADS, BROKEN HEARTS -- although, I think the UK version will keep that title). It seems like an interesting story, I'm excited for it to release!

"Eve has a new home, a new face, and a new name—but no memories of her past. She’s been told that she's in a witness protection program. That she escaped a dangerous magic-wielding serial killer who still hunts her. The only thing she knows for sure is that there is something horrifying in her memories the people hiding her want to access—and there is nothing they won’t say—or do—to her to get her to remember.
At night she dreams of a tattered carnival tent and buttons being sewn into her skin. But during the day, she shelves books at the local library, trying to not let anyone know that she can do things—things like change the color of her eyes or walk through walls. When she does use her strange powers, she blacks out and is drawn into terrifying visions, returning to find that days or weeks have passed—and she’s lost all short-term memories. Eve must find out who and what she really is before the killer finds her—but the truth may be more dangerous than anyone could have ever imagined."
I'm a fan of SBD's novels, so I'm naturally curious about this one. It sounds fantastic!
What are you waiting on this week?
Both of these look good. I didn't know about the name change of Severed Heads, Broken Hearts but I kind of prefer the new title.
ReplyDeleteI really like both titles, but I prefer the original SEVERED HEADS BROKEN HEARTS title. It's so strange and attention-grabbing!
DeleteOoh, I like the button for this! And I really liked the "Severed Heads, Broken Hearts" title, just because it was unique and very intriguing (I have this ARC...guess it's a "collector's edition" now, huh?).
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like how unique the SH,BH title was too. Your ARC is definitely a collector's edition now! ;)
DeleteBoth of these look good. Hope you get to read it soon!

Thanks for dropping by, Brandi!
DeleteBoth of these sound really great!! I haven't heard of either of them, so I'll definitely be adding them to my TBR pile. Great picks :)
ReplyDeleteAllison @Abibliophobic
Glad I managed to find two books that are new to you! :)
DeleteBoth of these sound really good and Conjured is new to me. I agree with Christina- the original title of The Beginning of Everything didn't work for me, so I am happy they changed it. I love the cover too!
ReplyDeleteTHE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING is the new title! It use to be SEVERED HEADS, BROKEN HEARTS. I think both are very good, but I slightly prefer the original. The cover is fabulous, though :)
DeleteOh, The Beginning of Everything sounds amazing! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? I'm very excited for it!
DeleteCoool picks.
ReplyDeleteOff topic side note: I think Ezra should be a girls name. I think more women should name their daughters Ezra and claim it as feminine. Like Stacy and Lesley. ;)
Agreed! I've always loved the name Ezra, and it would work incredibly well as a girls name.
DeleteThose sound really good! I'll definitely have to check them out!!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThese all look EPIC :)
ReplyDeleteI know! So many fabulous books to look forward to :)
DeleteI really enjoy these covers. They're simple but eye-catching. "dangerous magic-wielding serial killer" YES! Beginning of Everything sounds good too.
ReplyDeleteI love them, too. Simple covers can be so fantastic sometimes :)
DeleteAh okay, I was confused about the first one at first until I read that it used to be called Severed Heads, Broken Hearts. I have to say, the first title (and cover) is much more striking. The second is a bit more generic. I'm still definitely curious in reading it though! The second book, as well - though I have yet to have read anything by Sarah Beth Durst!
ReplyDeleteThe first title was very intriguing. I think they're keeping it for the UK release, but they seem set on changing it for the US.
DeleteYou need to read VESSEL by Sarah Beth Durst - so good!
Not liking the name change for Schneider's book! I thought the original was much more catching. Interested to know why they made the change but still pretty sure I'll read it given my love of contemporaries.
ReplyDeleteI like the new name, but the original was so intriguing. It's one of those titles that makes you go "what's that book about?"
DeleteCannot wait for your first pick. <3 Sigh. It seems amazing. But depressed about title and cover change :( I loved the first title and cover.. still, I cannot wait :D Hope you'll enjoy them both. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my WoW. <3

TBoE does seem like it's going to be a great book! I also loved the first title/cover, but the new ones are great too.
DeleteThank you for dropping by as well, Carina! :)
